In October ’17, we asked our customer, and beyond, to nominate someone who’d had a tough year and whose Christmas we just wanted to make special. We had dozens of nominations from people all over Essex but this particular person really stood out.
Tina from South Woodham Ferrers in Essex, whose son has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), works tirelessly to give her son Georgie the best life she can possibly give. She raises money for DMD also as there is no known cure and research is ongoing. Every year, Georgie’s condition worsens and every year Tina has to work that little bit harder to make his life more comfortable, whether it be a new power bed he needs so he can sit himself up, or a new wheel chair so he can maintain a level of mobility – and everything inbetween. We went to visit Tina mid October and she touched our heart with her compassion and drive. You can read more about DMD and Georgie on our ‘Good Causes‘ page.
If you’d like to donate to Georgies cause, or DMD, there are also links on how to do that there. If you’re Essex based, we can collect any physical donations you’d like to put towards Tina, just drop us an E-mail.
On to the fit.
The installation took place upstairs in Tina’s house as the downstairs was already nicely complimented with roller blinds. Tina had MDF shutters with a central tilt, she opted for Silk White. In the rear bedrooms, as they were south facing we installed blackout blinds as Tina’s husband is a light sleeper and like a pitch black room. As usual, an ABS plastic shutter was installed into the bathroom for peace of mind and longevity.
This install for Tina and her family wouldn’t have been possible without the kind part donation from our supplier S:Craft shutters. For more about S:Craft and the products we can fit from them, visit their website https://www.s-craft.co.uk/
